The Indian tobacco plant naturally occurs in fields, open woods, and roadsides. Several tiny lavender or blue-violet to white flowers in terminal, leafy, elongated clusters. Adapted to poor soil, sun to part sun. The plant was used by Native Americans. Plants in the genus Lobelia are not edible.
