This very adaptive plant can be grown in average soil and light conditions, but prefers full to partial sun and moist to slightly dry soil that is rich in organic content.  Its favorite habitat includes moist fields, gardens, pastures and along woodland edges. The plant is the larval host for the Clouded sulphur butterfly. Could be included as a ground cover. Its tendency to profligate in damp, moist conditions may be present in turf grass.
